Parents... do you let your younger children stay up until midnight to ring in the New Year, or do you still have them go to bed early?

Just wondering if you like to celebrate the moment with your whole family, or if you celebrate with just the adults. I believe that what you are doing at the moment the calendar switches over, is what you will do for the rest of the year, so I'm always hugging and kissing my hubby and kids. Just wondering what everyone else does?

I am not a parent. However, my parents let me stay up past 12, and they don't kiss me. We go to my sister's friend's house, because it is also my friend's house, and their friend's house, with a bunch of other people. We usually play games in a lower area while the adults eat crackers and talk in an upper area. Then we celebrate, and go home.

well my dad just sits on the sofa and barely waits till midnight. he doesnt care, he'd rather catch sleep. and my mom loves to go to this albanain new year's party all the time.. but it's expensive to go there and it lasts till like 3 in the morning. New Years is a BIG THING in albania. so basically we either go to a party or just stay home and chill. and eat a lot of goodies. and watch that disco ball thingy on tv

I celebrate with my son. He goes to bed soon after, but I dont see why children can't celebrate the new year...unless there will be alchohol, then the kiddos aught to go to bed.

When my kids were young, I used to let them stay up and watch the ball drop. They had a lot of fun eating all the junk food, drinking sparkling grape juice and staying up late.

It depends on the age.Under 8, No. Just creep in their room and give them a kiss. 8-12 it depends on the child after 12 they can stay up. Like you said what you are doing at midnight is what you will be doing for the rest of the year if you have a fussy toddler, do you real want for a year?

That's the one day of the year I let them stay up till midnight. Other than that it is 8pm on school nights and 9pm on other nights.

I stayed up most of time growing up and I've always let my son stay up whether I was there or not. If I'm partying I hired some help ,along with my two sisters kids we pay my cousin or niece way too much money to watch them and let them make a kids party. Now that he's older I let him stay up and I still drink and hv friends over but I never get out of control (anymore).

When my kids were young, we'd let them sleep. Then, we would wake them up about 20 or 30 minutes before midnight to ring in the New Year. It was always a special night. Now that they are older, sometimes they'll go to their gramndmother's home. Her condo rises above the skyline, they can see the fireworks from there. I always try to call or text my family to wish them a happy New Year too.
