How does car insurance with state farm work with a family when one child is not insured but has a license ?

my parents won't let me drive because I am not insured. can I still drive the car since my family is ? also would it cost more to add me name to the policy ?

Yes it will cost more, and if memory serves me correctly because you live in the home and are not listed you are not covered. It has been awhile since I had State Farm so they may have changed that policy.

You are not covered until they add you to their policy. Depending on your age it would cost another $100 a month or more.
