When converting a video to download and play it on any PC, which format should I use?

Report as

AVI is the most used globally, but if you want good quality and okay in size, use MP4, AVI today is mostly used by PS3 and PSP users

Agreed with WeirdKid. MP4 is great. MKV is also good, in fact probably better than MP4, but currently there is not alot of hardware support for that format.

I don't know what program you are using, but I feel I should clarify this answer a bit... MP4 isn't actually a format. It's a container. If there is an option, you want h.264 codec(format) for video, and AAC or AC3 codec for sound. That will result in the best output.

It's getting confusing but I'll try something that you guys listed so far

If you don't actually see the options, just choose MP4. most modern apps default to the settings I told you for it.

that's why i didn't mention MKV, he probably dosn't wants to install any extra codecs
