When washing your cat, is it a good idea to get in the tub with them?

Whenever i give my cat a bath he is always flipping out and i want to find a way to make him feel calmer when he has a bath. BTW he is declawed

It's good to wash your cat occasionally; while they do wash themselves, they can't get everything, and they can get a little smelly. However, I would not get in the tub with them, because you have less control over them, you're lible to slip, and unless your cat is really chill with being bathed, and you have steel-covered toes, you've just exposed more tender body parts to your cat's claws. I generally hold the cat over one arm, against the side of the tub, held just high enough so that she can't reach the bottom of the tub.

nothing will make a cat more calm when it comes to baths. if you get in with him he'll probably scratch you a lot!

He is flipping out because cats hate baths, and don't even need them. Most cats are terrified of water. Please don't make him suffer.

I only give him baths if he goes outside or in the fireplace not just for the fun of it

I don't. I stay on the edge of the tub to make sure he doesn't climb out!

I am not sure if getting in with them is the best idea. Try petting your cat or find some other way of relaxing it next time.
Or maybe try some form of try shampoo that simply doesn't require a bath as most cats dislike water.
Also cats tend to give themselves baths.

You're not supposed to give them baths, they clean themselves.

Only if it is de-clawed

No! Declawing cats is a horrible practice! They have no way of defending themselves or catching food, and even if they are indoor cats, accidents happen; they could get let out, or someone could be bothering them and they will need those claws! Don't de-claw cats; it's cruel!

I find the best way to wash a Cat is the washer and dryer. Just make sure you use one of those dryer pads. If not they really hold the static.

Oh my god! That is not even funny! Putting a cat in the washer would kill it! It would drown! Same with the dryer, but a few cats are on record having survived it. No such luck for the washer. I love dark humor, but this isn't dark; it's sick, involving the torturous death of helpless littl furry creatures.

Wow. Thats deep.

I don't know what's deep about it; I didn't comment on the meaning of life; I just defended animals. I will always do that, because I love all animals. Except leeches and mosquitoes. But I especially love cats, and too many people actually do harm to them for me to take these kinds of jokes lightly.

There is a you tube video about it Ifound very funny and it seemed to go the same way as the video went... also please do not bathe your cat in water unless it is a flea problem or a skunk problem please try the dry shampoo options first...

There are also wipes that will temporarily clean the cat a little bit and keep the smell down, if they've gotten pungent, but as they are damp and usually cold, most cats don't like them. They do, however, like them better than water, unless you have an unusual cat or a Turkish Van.
