Why does Skyrim keep freezing?

I got a brand new copy of skyrim for Xbox 360 on Christmas and have attempted to play it several times. about 1-10 minutes into playing it, it freezes up and I have to turn the console off. I have tried installing it to my hardcover but it says unable to download. is it the copy of the game or my Xbox? please help. I'm only on the first part of the game because that's about as far as I can go. thanks

Maybe it over heats the Xbox. Try placing a fan next to the gaming system and turning it on before you turn on your gaming system.

Mine did that too, but I got the dawn gaurd update. It still freezes sometimes but not nearly as much.

If you allready updated it or don't want to buy the update then you can try changing the position of your Xbox
