I'm so scared of the future. What do I do?

I'm scared to graduate high school because I'll be living by myself. what if someone stalks me? what if my car breaks down in the middle of nowhere? what if my friends leave me and never call me or see me again? how do I make this fridge work? I'm scared and confused because I can't take care of myself and I just feel like crying.

Don't be scared. Get a job, and apply for colleges. I moved out early and I'm alright. :) Good luck!

Life life to its fullest now and cross those bridges when they come later in life. Don't worry about these things so much.

you should know you are able to do all these as well as your parents and others in our society.

once you start to do all these in person, you will find out that you are able to do.

I felt the same way and still do in some ways. But you'll be fine :) everyone is a little scared of the future, don't let it get you down (Btw lagitament is the old English way of spelling it, some of us still prefer the old ways of doing things)

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself. I've heard that all my life, and I believe its true. Think about it.

I'm 16, I don't have to think about these things because I am very independent, my dad is teaching me how to fix cars, and my uncle owns a towing company, my dad used to be a maintenance man so my fridge wouldn't be a problem, I know people are going to leave, so I get over it, and when I graduate, my best friend and I are getting an apartment together. We are getting jobs now, saving up to pay for our own car, and driving school, the rest will be half will go to put back for an apartment or house, and the other half for gas and such. You're over thinking it. You will be absolutely fine. If your car breaks down, you can call AAA or another towing company, or your dad or a friend to help fix it. You're going to lose friends all of your life, not everyone is going to stick around, but when people walk out, new ones walk in. Your fridge should work fine, if not, try calling someone for it. Don't be scared and confused, if you really don't think you could take care of yourself, then try a roommate, they would be there for you, especially if it's one of your close friends.

Why will you be living by yourself? Where are you parents? You don't have to move out of your parents' home just because you've graduated from high school. Most kids don't. Talk to your parents or other family about your worries; they should be better able to reassure you about the future than people here on Ask, because they know you in person. If your family is, for some reason, of no help, talk to a counselor at school. Or at your church, if you go to church. Take a few deep breaths and, as xXnick21 advises, cross your bridges as you come to them.

Just because you will be living on your own doesn't mean that you will lose your support structure. And even if you do, you CAN go it alone. I had to learn very quickly how to do a lot on my own when my ex and I split... but with every new accomplishment I became more empowered and more certain that I can handle anything that life throws my way. Even with MS and Fibromyalgia, and having had a heart attack this past summer, I'm still running this farm on my own, and I'll be darned if anyone tries to convince me otherwise. And now I'm helping my best friend's son learn to raise cattle since my friend was killed in a motorcycle accident this past summer... I have people relying on me instead of me cowering in a corner and flinching at every little thump in the dark. You can do the very same thing with your life.

I only speak the truth. How are you doing, did you get enough rest today? Give Jake a scratch on the chin from his Aunt Koi.

I really need to shut down the laptop and get some sleep. I need to dehorn and vaccinate calves tomorrow, and that's going to take a lot out of me. And Jake sends kitty hugs to her Auntie Koi!

Aww, I feel so much better now. Take it easy on yourself, you don't have to build Rome in a day, as my mom used to say.

Things like thinking about the future causes anxiety, try to not think at all of what you're going to do, but just go along with it; you slowly will get into it and when you look back at how nervous you were, you'll think how crazy you must've been, main key is to not think about what you're going to do, just do it; take chances and dont be afraid, youll have people to rely on like your friends and family, your relationship with people will end up becoming stronger and, if you know whats right and wrong, you'll do great in picking your friends, boyfriends, decisions and pretty much your whole life.

Consider yourself as being just as smart as most people, right? Most young people have new challenges and figure them out just fine. Have enough self-confidence to believe you will figure out what to do. Get a roommate at first, for a friend, and for company. I had a roommate that was very, very smart, but when she blew a fuse on the washing machine, I kid you not, she called the fire department. So, just laugh when you make mistakes, nothing's going to be bad enough to kill you and that's all that matters. "What doesn't kill us, makes us stronger."

Use Reason. There is no reason to fear the things you have no control over. Mark those off your "worry" list and don't let yourself think about them. Plan your future for the things you can control. Where do you want your life to go? Without a plan or road map you will end up in the desert without sustenance. Focus on these goals and if a roadblock appears calmly decide (with help if necessary) the best way around it. If you do these things, you will not have time to focus on what "might" happen that is bad. Have a "emergency plan" for problems that arise, but do not focus or worry about problems that may never happen. That is the ultimate waste of time. Friends are also there to help. Good Luck!

it's okay, i'm scared too.but guess what, there is someone who will Never leave you nor forsake you and that's God. It is true that things will happen in your life that you didn't plan, and that there definitely will be challenges, but god will always be there for you, whether he is the shoulder to cry on, the one who wraps his arms around you in a hug,or the one pointing you in the direction to go.
