This one is for anyone who believes in an afterlife. What must a person do to achieve salvation or a positive place in the afterlife?

I would also appreciate it if you could state your spiritual background (religion) and where you believe arises from?

Christianity. You must be Born Again. To be born of the Spirit. In order to achieve this you must admit your a sinner and ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins. Then you must ask Jesus to come into your life to be Lord and Savior of your life. Then read The Word Of God as must as you can in order to grow in God's Word and know what the Lord requires of you. Pray and tell others about Jesus and do the Will Of Your Heavenly Father.

Isn't it strange that all the three synoptic gospels says nothing about "salvation through faith"!! It is only John, the gospel of GAPS -- the most unreliable and most unauthentic of all gospels, speaks such fraud as "salvation through faith" -- how do you account for it?

that's nice.

Bad people are good at times too. Being good will not get you through that narrow door to heaven. Believing Christ is your Savior, that He died for you and rose from the dead overcoming sin and confessing your sins will. By doing this you will automatically become more of a good person filled with God's love.

Is what you are saying that it is good works alone that gets you into heaven?

Allah says :

( 74 ) Indeed, whoever comes to his Lord as a criminal - indeed, for him is Hell; he will neither die therein nor live.

( 75 ) But whoever comes to Him as a believer having done righteous deeds - for those will be the highest degrees [in position]:

( 76 ) Gardens of perpetual residence beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally. And that is the reward of one who purifies himself. Quran (20:74-76)

---------
Allah says :

( 97 ) Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer - We will surely cause him to live a good life, and We will surely give them their reward [in the Hereafter] according to the best of what they used to do. Quran (16:97)

Am I correct in taking from what you have said that anyone who believes in God/Allah and lives a good life will achieve salvation?

Thank you for this answer.
Report as
well , yes , but you shall believe " honestly" in Allah ,not just a saying...and believing in him honestly means following his orders ...

Allah says :

( 122 ) But the ones who believe and do righteous deeds - We will admit them to gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever. [It is] the promise of Allah, [which is] truth, and who is more truthful than Allah in statement.

( 123 ) Paradise is not [obtained] by your wishful thinking nor by that of the People of the Scripture. Whoever does a wrong will be recompensed for it, and he will not find besides Allah a protector or a helper.

( 124 ) And whoever does righteous deeds, whether male or female, while being a believer - those will enter Paradise and will not be wronged, [even as much as] the speck on a date seed.

( 125 ) And who is better in religion than one who submits himself to Allah while being a doer of good and follows the religion of Abraham, inclining toward truth? And Allah took Abraham as an intimate friend.

( 126 ) And to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And ever is Allah, of all things, encompassing.

Quran (4:122-126)
Report as
So anyone: Jew, Muslim or gentile who believes in God/Allah and lives a good life will achieve heaven/paradise even if they do not follow the teachings of Mohamed and the Quran?
Report as
well , you are missing something ... if ( Jew, Muslim or gentile ) believed in Allah that means they shall follow his orders , or there believing will be useless... and following Allah orders ... means following the teachings of Mohamed (pbuh) and the Quran ... cause Allah says :

( 80 ) He who obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah; but those who turn away - We have not sent you over them as a guardian. Quran (4:80)
----------
and before Islam appears , any person who believed in Allah and obeyed his prophets (Moses , Jesus ..(pbut) )shall inter heaven if Allah willed to ... but after Islam appearance ,as Islam is the last religion and prophet Muhammad is the last prophet.. Allah says :

( 85 ) And whoever desires other than Islam as religion - never will it be accepted from him, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers. Quran (3:85)
and if you have any question ... i am happy to answer

Lies are to be refuted......it's the moral duty of all honest men to do whatever they can to protect the minors from superstitious pollution.

Lies & truth are in the eye of the beholder. All words spoken down the generations are similar to Chinese whispers. You can teach whomever you like, whatever you believe, it ok. But on the other hand, so can I. I'm a peaceful being, not put here to argue or even debate what you don't believe, but I won't hassle you for teaching your truth & beliefs & I would appreciate the same respect, even if you feel passionate about it. Peace out man.

You must believe that Jesus is the son of God, confess your sins, be baptized...and forgive. Study the Bible pray and live right.

If there is a god of this serene universe, you would only be saved and justified by good works. Live an honest, virtuous, moral, useful and charitable life and be rewarded both here and hereafter. Salvation of mankind is here and now; not there and hereafter. There is no reason to believe that a god will do any better in an afterlife than what he does in this life.

Just think about it, if the bible is mistaken in telling where we came from, how can we believe the same book whatever it has to say about where we will be going? Faith is not a virtue, and hence, completely void of any salvation. Do not let your imagination to be deceived by ancient frauds and impostors.

This is a position that I am very familiar with and the "It doesn't exist" opinion is so simple it needs no explanation, and that is why I didn't address it. So I am genuinely curious why you felt compelled to answer my question in the manner you did?
Report as
I didn't say "god doesn't exist". I said I have no evidence as yet to believe that a god exist. The principal stand is that "I do not know" for the precise reason that "I have yet not been presented with any proof".
Report as
What would you require as proof?

Hear the Word. Faith comes through hearing, and hearing comes through the Word of God (Rom 10:17). Until someone hears God?s Word, they are incapable of obeying it.
Believe the Word. It is impossible for someone to become a christian unless they believe that Jesus is the Savior and Son of God (Jhn 20:31, Acts 16:31, Jhn 3:16).
Repent of your sins. ?Repent? means to ?change your mind?. That change of mind always involves a change of action as well. Repentance is when we change our mind about what is important and submit ourselves to Jesus and His Word. Repentance is a necessity of salvation (Mk 6:12, Lk 13:5, Lk 15:7).
Confess Jesus to others. If we have sworn our allegiance to Jesus, we must be prepared to publicly confess Him as our Lord. If we won?t confess Jesus before men, He won?t confess us before God (Matt 10:32-33, Lk 12:8-9).
Be baptized in the name of Jesus for salvation. Many groups baptize people, but very few baptize people for the right reasons. Baptism isn?t merely an ?outward showing of an inward faith? or ?for membership?. Baptism is what saves us (1 Pet 3:21). Baptism is the point where someone goes from being lost to saved because they are buried and resurrected with Christ (Rom 6:4-5). Baptism is the final requirement to become a christian (Acts 2:37-38, Mk 16:16, Acts 2:41). There is not a single example of someone becoming a christian without baptism. Baptism is just as necessary as the other four requirements.

(Christian) it's more than just believing in God. You need to believe that Jesus came down to this world and died on the cross for all of the sins in the world including yours and mine. Also that he was dead in the tomb for 3 days and then was risen from the dead just as he said he would in earlier passages.
