If i purchase something free from the kindle fire hd app store, do i still have to provide a credit card number? PLEASE ANSWER!

In order to buy/download any content to your Kindle Fire from the App store (or Books, Music, etc...), you have to have a valid credit card on file for "one-click" purchases. You won't be charged anything for them, but it processes the sale exactly the same way that it would a normal transaction, so you have to have a method of payment for it to process them.

Not for the purchase if it really is free but often accounts need credit cards so if you have an account with no credit card you might have to get one.

No if it's free you don't but if it cost money you either need a credit card number or an iTunes card!!!!!!
