Gift Certificates purchased and find restaurant is closed! Vancouver WA

Can T.G.I.Friday Gift Cards be used in another restaurant? I sent several to my son's family only to learn the one in Vancouver WA is closed! Can they use them elsewhere in the Chain?

If you cannot use the same card at a TGI Fridays or other place there are ways you can redeem the cash from the gift card online I've done it with all my gift cards people give me that I don't Iike

How, email? Phone? What's your pitch? I have several gift cards I wouldn't even re-gift to a enemy.
