Should Obama be impeached?

Report as

For what? Obama created more jobs in his first 4 years then Bush did in his first 4. Obama saved the nation from going into a depression, he would have done more had it not been for Mitch McConallofus wasting 4 years doing nothing but trying to make Obama a "1 term president" People need to get over the fact that Americans no longer agree with the republican party and move on with their lives.

Alternative one (Keynes): Obama added 4 trillion to the debt in 4 years. You spend $4 trillion dollars of deficit spending and get a net gain of +260,000 jobs, that's $1,540,000 per job. The economic multiplier on these jobs appear to be about .99, meaning you got .99 dollars in economic activity for every dollar spent. This is because of the inefficiencies of paying money for bankruptcies and bailing out banks. But you are endebting your future taxpayers by an equal amount as the deficit spending, resulting in a decrease of economic growth. Net result appears to be zero.
Alternative two (Laffer): You put 1500 billion into tax breaks and get 2500 billion in economic activity through the multiplier effect (measured at 1.4). If your tax rate averages 20 pct on this, you effectively get back 500b from your 1 billion in tax breaks. Your growth is retained, and your future unmortgaged. This only works if you don't borrow to cover the shortfall; if so, the first scenario applies. Bet result is a slight positive, unless you increase spending.
Bush's tax breaks cost $1.5trillion. Obama's stimuli were $2.6trillion and deficits were almost double that. Tye net effect for Obama: 34 pct of the increase of the debt was due to increased spending, 24 pct to retaining Bush's tax cuts. See here: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bush_tax_cuts
.
Republicans made the mistake of following a Borrow-Tax reduction-Growth scenario, without paying for it. They reasoned tye tax cuts would attract capital from foreign countries, creating jobs. But the foreign countries reduced their own tax rates to remain competitive. Had they actually cut spending to accomplish this, we would not be having the discussion, and Europe might still be solvent.
Keynes has been effectively disproven as an effective means of managing recessions. Good idea, but bad execution and reality is, not efficient enough.
Free market interventions (tax cuts) appear slightly better at efficiently spurring the economy.

Report as
Tax cuts or tax increases are born in a community. What would the effect be in Europe, for example, if we raise taxes in the US? It will allow those countries to increase taxes slightly and still retain competitive edge for capital retention.
I am convinced that part of the reason Obama is seeking to raise taxes on Americans is that it will allow Europe to raise taxes there too, with no net change in capital flows. This will allow the governments of Spain and Italy a chance to get revenue at low cost to jobs. In other words, it will cost America jobs, benefit Europe, and we will not have inflation, because high unemployment is an efficient and natural counter to inflation.
I do not think he is dumb; someone has told him the survival of The EU is dependent on increased revenues. My response: spending, not revenue, got them in the hole, and spending alone will get them out. Countries have to live within their means, or inevitably they deflate their currency (something we do at our peril, as we are the world's reserve currency).

Caluvox, this is what happens when a simple question, which I personally think is disrespectful to our President, has the typical "Bush Bashing" blame game that I'm hoping some day will end. The question didn't ask you to rant about how everything was Bush's fault. So.......you deserve everything Shiny put on the plate. Just because someone posts a garbage question doesn't mean you need to climb in the gutter with them.
Report as
dwilly, I didn't disagree with Shiny's statement, though I don't see it's relation to the subject of an Obama impeachment, nor did I take any offense from what was stated. My answer was merely to point out that Obama did less damage to the nation then the man he replaced, and no one was calling for his impeachment, or calling for the congress that fought against any proposal, good or bad made by Obama, to be run out of town. The hostility in your comment seems a bit over the top, it would seem the subject of G W Bush is personal to you.
Report as
Didn't mean it to sound hostile. My apology. Yes I do have a "somewhat relationship" with President Bush. I am building his Library on SMU campus and have met him several times. ie, I'm sure he has no idea who I am, but it does get very trying to constantly here the Bush did it syndrome. You know the funny thing is I have never heard President Obama blame President Bush by name. He knows what he inherited and he also knows that one man or one office holder doesn't deserve all the credit nor all the blame. The mess we have started way before 41 let alone 43. Anyway, didn't mean to sound disrespectful.
Report as
Shiny you are way over their heads. They all think taxing the rich creates wealth. Fools.
Report as
This blame Bush stuff would stop of he ever defended himself. If he were to be more vocal and defend his legacy, you would see Obamas numbers go south fast, as he's had a free-fire zone on Bush for years. Time, I say, to fight back. He still has surrogates who are effective debaters. It's absolutely curious to me that he is ignoring his legacy.

Obama did not add 4 trillion to the debt in 4 years. He inherited two wars and the 2001 - 2003 tax cuts. Or do you think wars are free and tax cuts don't lower govt income? Cost of Afghan - Irag wars since 2008 about $670 billion. Cost of tax cuts about $916 billion. Lots of other existing programs he had nothing to do with. Beside for the $886 biliion "controlled" stimulus, what exactly did Obama add? Congress continues to do nothing to pay for thier pork ridden programs. And both Dems and Reps are good at bringing home the bacon without a clue of how to pay for it (except National Debt and stealing the SS trust fund).

I think he should resign from office he has not done a single damn helpful thing to help us.There was proof that he was a bad president and that jobs and other things like that have declined since he was elected.I think he is trying to turn the country socialist.Well,if our fellow people of the US want to reelect him, that's they're fault if they want higher taxes that are obviously going to be spent on something unhelpful and stupid.

Assuming there is something seriously illegal, that could rise to the level of high crimes and misdemeanors. I do not know of anything that would qualify, but that does not mean he's clean; I have noticed his tendency to play Chicago style politics.
An impeachment would need to pass the House, and then the Senate would need to act. This Senate would likely not convict without good cause, and maybe even with good cause. So it's kind of academic.
Republicans take their offices seriously. When caught in a scandal, they tend to resign. This is not the standard of Democrats, who wait until the last moment before leaving. I think they look at the job as a right, not a responsibility.

Helpful (5) Fun (1) Thanks for voting Comments (11)

What???? They tend to resign?
Iran Contra?
Report as
Iran contra: full investigation, tons of indictments, several verdicts, no time served. Why? Nobody died. No money was spent in violation of Congressional order. It was a CIA operation all the way, and Bush pardoned almost everyone. It's probably one reason why he lost the election to Clinton. Reagan accepted responsibility publicly and admitted the facts as known. Reagan did NOT participate in a coverup, nor did he craft an alternate narrative.
Bengazi: 4 people died. CIA involved (typical) and likely the team was there purchasing Russian weapons to send to the rebels in Syria. ARB: 4 people held culpable, one criminally, no congressional commission formed and still being investigated. Alternate narrative (aka lie) promoted by administration and used as far up as the President, who has not taken responsibility, admitted facts nor accepted blame. Nobody indicted, nobody fired, and only shuffled into different jobs.
The similarities and differences are noted. I refer to other scandals, including sex scandals; it's a tendency to resign, not a rule, as exceptions exist on both sides. For a list, see here: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_federal_political_scandals_in_the_United_States

What I would like to see is less partisanship from the intelligent on both sides. Bush didn't start the mess but he added quite a bit to it. Obama has added yet more. NOBODY has addressed spending. NOBODY has admitted that our current tax rates are artificially low since it doesn't even pay for what we already owe.
There is enough blame in this game to go around.
Report as
We don't have the facts in evidence yet. NOBODY has admitted to changing the wording. That's because nobody wants to fess up to lying to the American Public.
The fact is, we still don't know who did what yet. Obama was in the room, was there to see the events, per one account. Gave an order to give them whatever they needed for defense. And it was slow-walked back to Langley the next morning, when we had assets prepped and on tarmac in Sig, Lovorno and Rota. 30 minutes for fast movers, 2 hours for a Spooky. I have not heard why they did not stand up the air assets, nor why they slow walked the support back to VA.

You have to admit there is a lot of questions to be answered, and it's obvious non-SOP was followed from the moment the firefight began. If we don't get the review right, we have the chance it will be repeated again in annother part of the world, because Al Qaeda learns from failures. So far, we haven't even properly disciplined the people named in the ARB. This is not the way to run a military op.

Which is why we wait for the investigation to finish

Demographic location disparity. I believe it's even worse around coal counties.

You haven't seen what I see all the time

So, what do you see all the time?

Well Obama wasn't born in Kenya, has done NOTHING about restricting the 2 amendment and the ACA (Obamacare) is the same thing that the republicans proposed back in the mid 90's. But otherwise no, I haven't seen the things you have.
Report as
I see things... But only when I've had a few.
Report as
So what if it was anything like what the Republicans proposed? Doesn't mean it's the job of the Federal Government to make us buy HC insurance.
And I promise, he will be pushing for gun laws. All little dictators do this.

I seen little towns dry up the last town I was working in we saved the little dinner if we hadn't came it would be closed I'm sick of hearing how great he is if your not rich or poor he is killing you the middle class are worse off than the poor I haven't seen one spark of hope for blue collar Americans illegal immigrants are taking over most of the work force he ain't stopping it my grandmother on a fixed income has a hard time paying for her medicine if I couldn't pick up the tab on things I don't what she would do that's a taste of what I see
Report as
I've seen little towns dried up too. Mostly having to do with coal, Walmart, aging population, old sewage systems, lack of innovation, and drought. That's just what to be expected. Small rural towns break apart overnight throughout history for numerous reasons. Sometimes, one have to look at where they stand in the world. Then they have to realize that it's the survival of the fittest. If you think being on welfare is a good life, then one has to wonder what your outlook on life is. If an illegal can do your job for you, well.... you figure it out from there. Some places have "successfully" eradicated their illegal workforce. What ends up happening, is that a once bountiful state now has to rely on exports for food because their crops die on the stalks from not being picked. Minimum wage and standing in the hot sun to pick fruits. I'm sure thousands if not millions of Americans would love and be flocking to those jobs wouldn't they? I don't know what your definition of middle class is. But for myself, a middle class person typically makes $65,000 a year, has a car, has a mortgage, maxes out their 401k every year, feels secured about their future, has the ability to adapt, has the ability to move up in income, and has a sustainable career that can be transferred elsewhere if their current company goes haywire. There are plenty of cushy high paying jobs in a 200 mile radius around my area that are going unfilled every week. Even interns who are still in college gets paid 25 dollars an hour. Obama has done a magnificent job for the up and incoming middle class. Extended medical coverage from their parents for another 4 years, the pay-as-you-earn student loan program instead of a fix rate is marvelous, and what people fail to realize is that he's the one advocating extended tax cuts on the middle class while the GOP holds it hostage to protect their top wealthiest people.

Makng everyone get health care is little difference from everyone having auto insurance. I could just take a pass on ins. and let all of you pay my medical bills by going to a state funded hospital if I get sick. Then try to stick you with the bill (up to 30% of hospital bills are not paid). You are now paying for all those who have no insurance. Insurance providers may not like the plan but they provide zero health care, they just try to not pay the bills.

It's just more hate talk. If this is how citizens think and act, is it any wonder that congress is so polarized?
Report as
I hope others read this post. Here you have 2 people that supported 2 different candidates that have found a way to LISTEN to each others views, never call each other names, and do our best to get our message across without all the hate and babble. It's not hard to show respect to each other. At the end of the day, we both LOVE OUR COUNTRY!
Report as
Amen to that. Course part of that might be because neither one of us are die hard party supporters. I have voted GOP almost as often as dem and even though you're GOP, you aren't blind to faults within the party. I wish everyone would show sense instead of partisanship.

Fast and Furious or Benghazi ring a bell? More than impeachment maybe murder? Or holding a CT SS# when he has never lived there? Or forging 2 different documents to prove his eligibility? Or passing laws circumventing Congress? Or campaigning with tax money? Or taking campaign funds from foreign countries? Or just lying? (Clinton had to go through impeachment just for lying about sex). Obama lied - people died! Our founders would be shooting by now.

May I ask why so many Americans seem to think Obama (or any other president) is an absolute monarch? Have you even heard of Congress? Or the Senate? Or lobbyists? Do you even know what democracy means? Sheesh!

Congress should be impeached; They did nothing to remove the 2001 - 2003 tax cuts which added about $916 billion to debt since 2008 and they knew wars were not funded yet allowed Afghan - Iraq wars to add another $670 billion since 2008 to the National Debt. Congress continues to do nothing to pay for their pork ridden programs. Both Dems and Reps are good at bringing home the bacon without a clue of how to pay for it (except add to National Debt and steal from funded programs like SS trust fund). Wars aren't free and tax cuts do lower govt income. If Bush didn't get impeached for Iraq war why impeach Obama?
