Fire needs a combustible susbtance such as coal or paper which works as a fuel for the energy consumption process. In addition, it requires oxygen to support the combustion process.

Fire works through oxidation. This is where by oxygen molecules react with other molecules. For fire to work, fuel and heat for ignition must be present.
