What are some interesting topics to write an essay about?

so i need to complete 3 essay about different topics but i have no clue what to write about. help?

I like to go on Yahoo News and surf around their articles.
One time I wrote an article for my Journalism class on a man too fat to die. (: He was on death penalty but weighed so much that they could not inject him in his veins without causing him pain. They were debating over whether or not they could kill him without it being considered inhumane or torturous.
Just one interesting article that came from searching around online. (:
