Getting physical before surgery?

I have to get a physical before my surgery to get pins put in my finger. what do they do ? how can I tell them that makes me uncomfortable? do they do blood work while I am at the hospital for surgery?

It is called "Pre op testing", and it is perfectly normal, yes they do blood work, and sometimes chest exrays, and things like that. Let them do it, because if there is ANYTHING abnormal you WANT them to be aware of it....BEFORE you are on the operating table. They might do blood work while you are in there, it depends on the doctor and what type of test(s) they order. Good Luck with your surgery!

Yes they do blood work to see what type of blood you have!! But don't worry it doesn't hurt! All you will feel I'd a little pock and that's it. Good luck

What normally happens is that a pre Op physical is carried out before surgery. This consists of blood work, a urine psychotherapy and EKG and Chest x-ray depending on your age. However, this is determined by a surgeon and the type of surgery that will be carried out.
