Surround yourself with happy people, music, and things you enjoy. While I do not think you can make yourself be happy, you can be open to the possibility of happiness. Instead of saying, "I can't be happy," say, "Maybe I can be happy today." It's worth a try, right?
How long and how seriously have you felt like this? If it's been a long time and seriously deep, you might want to research the symptoms of Depression. If in your research you find that you may have clinical Depression, then you may want to consult a mental health professional. I hope this was helpful. Good luck.
Usually at the onset of depression there is an identifiable event that either triggered the unhappiness, or caused it. Can you think of what that event was and when it occurred? If this onslaught was at a certain point in time and you can’t pinpoint it, then you need to make an appointment with your doctor. Something is causing the serotonin level in your brain to drop.
I recommend a Gratitude Diary. It works wonders. Just use a blank calendar, and each night write down one thing that went right. It can be as simple as a good parking space. It can be that you're glad someone smiled. As you try to pick your favorite day after day, you will find that you are more attuned to the joy in your life. Sometimes, people aren't aware of the happiness around them. I also agree with AskYourQuestion. Seeing the word ANGRY whenever you are here, is counterintuitive. You have defined yourself as someone who is angry, not happy. If you are serious, you will write a new definition of yourself. Happy New Year, and best wishes that you find your bright side in 2013!
Hi, Angrycat. Got to ask this question. Are you holding a grudge or grudges against anyone because that truly only hurts one person and that is you. And it can fester and make a person very unhappy. Now, that I've got that out of the way (because that may be way off base), a person has to find happiness within himself before he can find it from the outside world. The world will let you down. If you don't have an aversion to it, the biggest thing that can change your life is getting to know the Lord. If you're interested, I can help you with that. That will change your life forever and you'll never be the same. But everything has to start from the inside out or nothing's going to make any difference because it won't last. Find things YOU like to do, something that really WILL make you happy. There HAS to be something in life that you enjoy. If you're really down, you may have to think real hard, but it's there. This is a start, I hope. And I'll be glad to talk with you, if you want.
