Make sure the baby isn't switching his days and nights. In other words, don't let the baby sleep all day. Keep him the most active in the daytime, so he'll be tired enough to sleep at night. Babies still need naps during the daytime however. Allow the baby to settle himself down--if you keep going in and keep picking him up when he cries, then he never learns to do this. Give the 7 month old warm milk, burp him/her, lay him/her down, and pat him/her on the back gently or rub. If that does not work check the diaper. Some children are difficult and try to fight the sleep but eventually they will fall asleep.
Kids cry only when they feel hungry, or ill, or they need their mom's attention. They feel lonely / neglected when they are not paid any attention and thus to attract people's attention they cry. Change their diapers too they feel bad when they are wet.
