They have some pretty unique organs that can detect fluctuations in heat and can detect unusually patterns (by taste) in the air. Some can track wounded prey for a long distance. So when you consider that, they are pretty smart creatures.

All animals and reptiles are smart. They are just like us :) That's my own opinion and belief.

Not particularly smart. They don't have problem solving capability. They rely on instinctual behavior.

They have good instincts such as tracking prey, they are not smart to a human level, but they have good instincts.
