Police work is law enforcement. So you can't have a conscience when there is a conflict between the letter of the law and justice. Often the consequence of their duty involves destroying families and taking lives. The routine of detecting and enforcing potential law breaking, police routinely have a mind set in which everyone but other cops is viewed with suspicion. And they often feel they operate above the law, which is why there are so many corrupt cops. Eventually most cops become paranoid. And often with good reason, because of the collateral damage that police work does to the lives of the people they deal with. I think for someone to enjoy this kind of work it takes a bit of a power hungry sociopath. Also if you have an IQ over 100 it might be hard to get onto a department. But if you get off on destroying people and families, and enjoy bullying people and getting paid to lie. I guess it might be for you. It certainly is not the kind of work I could ever be interested in doing. Mostly because I feel that justice is more important than the letter of the law. And I'm not a sadistic bully. Also, I have an IQ of 160, no department would ever hire me anyways so were even.
