What makes people want to be construction workers?
Money and an unwillingness to sit at a desk all day.
the enjoyment of doing stuff with your hands. it gives people the opportunity to create something that is intuitive for others. also, it puts money in their pockets
Construction tradespeople seem to have one thing in common - a hatred of paperwork. (I own a plumbing & heating co. - I deal with the fall-out from that every day LOL
Working out doors , pretty darn good money !

I was a residential home builder for 18 yrs. and it's a very gradifying job when you step back and see what you just built.
I like it when at the end of the day you can stand back and see your accomplishments. I've been a home builder for 36 years.
I've been a framing carpenter all my life. Love to be outside in the fresh air. I'd rather be busy working hard then sitting around. Most of the people I've worked with are first class, and there is plenty of money to be made
