Why are babies hands so soft?

If you had soaked in a well heated bathtub for nine months, you'd be soft also! ;)

because they don't do any work. lol. JK. I could be wrong, but I think the baby skin is very soft because their skin cells regenerate faster than growing kids. I think as we get older our skin cells lose speed at regenerating themselves, hence once you are an old man it takes longer to heal from a cut or a scratch.
