What does a pound sign before a word on facebook mean?

Report as

It's because Twitter uses those as "tags". When you use the #tag you can select the "tagged" word and read all the tweets who have "tagged" the same word. So if you tag the word #epic, and the click #epic, you will go to a list. This list will show all the tweets with #epic in it. Hope that makes sense. Anyways Facebook doesn't do this, but there is a setting on Twitter that allows your tweets to also be posted on your Facebook account. So if you have that setting turned on, and you tag a word, than the # is still going to show up on the word, it just won't have a link with it. Does that makes sense? Sorry if it was confusing lol:)
