Can nail polish damage your nails?

I'm always using nail polish and I'm a little worried it can damage my nails.

It doesn't seem to bother some people's nails but I know it dries mine out and makes them more likely to break (even the so called "strengthening" kind) I don't use polish unless I am going someplace special then I take it off immediately after or by the next day. I have really good strong nails so I simply use a buffer/polisher, This is a file looking tool that has a very fine sanding side for removing ridges on the top, a smoother, a buffer and a polisher which is sort of vinyl feeling and I believe has wax embedded in it, it will give your nails a finished look and shine them as if you are wearing clear polish :)

It's not the nail polish. The nail polish remover causes all the problems.
