"One who knows self, knows god!" The first step is to doubt; everything. And then start gathering information from all the sources you can find. A true relationship is one that's made by questioning and understanding. Don't limit yourself to just one source. Believe me, you'll find your path. Good luck. Cheers
easy... you ask him for forgiveness. to make it stronger is all but up to you. being a straight forward person. with helping, kindness and respect towards others and yourself. should not only build a strong independent person for yourself, but also for others to see. which in the end god know and sees that your soul is giving and pure.
This could be the first day of a wonderful relationship with your creator. God wants to have a relationship with every human. The Bible says that man was created in his image. Many people feel that it's their church leaders responsibility to have the close relationship and then they get what's left as he shares it with them. This simply is not true. It is your responsibility to cultivate that relationship. So how can you do that?
As in any relationship that you have with a friend. It takes getting to know that person (ie what he likes...what he dislikes). God long ago communicated to mankind through many different books. These books are contained in the Bible. So it is essential that you learn more about this friend by reading about him. You will learn what he likes and what he doesn't like. You will draw closer to him. (James 4:8)
I pray and just have regular conversations with him, he doesn't answer, but I know he's listening. And if I have to ask for him to erase my sins, I ask and promise that I will never do the same sin in my life time.

Nicole, I think the very best way would be to make friends with mature believers who will know about reading the Bible, and will have plenty of experience walking with God, and dealing with being Godly in this UnGodly world. of course, you will have to start studying and reading your Bible to prove these things out for yourself, but You have come to the right place, because these people who have answered your question are probably all willing to start this kind of friendship you need. (Including me!). You can ask for help by commenting on my answer, or any of the others that interest you. You can find non-judgemental answers to things that come up in your everyday life that you may not find with your pastor or family, I would like to leave you with a scripture that talks about the importance of hanging out with believers, it's from Hebrews 3:13 " But exhort one another daily, while it is called Today,(while we are still here on earth) lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin." That says 'hang out with believers everyday or the drama of unbelievers could cause us to sin thru our actions and reactions. :). Bye for now! Beth
