How do you get your information back off of your flashdrive when you know you saved it but half of your essay or so is gone?

i saved my essay to my flashdrive lastnight and just went to add to it when half of it isnt there and now i half retype all of it. i was so sure it was all there . i even checked this morning and it was there

You could consider checking on the auto-saved document on the word document or other that you typed on. It is good practice to save on desktop before transferring on the flash drive or other external devices. Try also clicking 'back' to see if you could see the complete version.
