As soon as I get paid, I pay all my bills, have money taken out of my check and put in savings/retirement. I only have one credit card which is at home and only for emergencies or when traveling. The rest is all mine to run amok!!!!!! and I do like to run amok!!!!!!
When you go shopping don't take any credit cards and very little money , before you buy something ask yourself if you really need this , before you go shopping look in you closet and see just how many things in there do you really wear .
Create a budget worksheet. All of your money gets spent on paper first. You will have many categories on your budget worksheet including savings and blow money. The blow money is the cash you use for your spending spree. I read the book by Dave ramseys after my divorce (years ago) and followed the strategies, I got out of over 25 thousand dollars of debt in less then 2 years. So ya it works. You just need to want it to happen.
I've heard that if you think about how long it took you to earn the money you're spending, you're less likely to buy the item. $200 pair of boots (at $20/hr job)= 10 hours of work. Join a gym instead? Go for a bike ride? Read a book?
