Depends on what games and/or console features you're interested in, and what your friends have. I have all three consoles, plus I'm a PC gamer, but 90% of the games I have are all exclusive to the particular platform I bought it for. However, I prefer the ps3 for these reasons:
Blu-ray support, the feel of the D-Pad, cross-platform support for PC gamers, JRPGs, free online play, can use the ps3 controller as a PC controller (motionjoy drivers), non-proprietary upgradable HDD (uses the same as laptops), REGION-FREE (can play Japanese and European games on an American ps3, and vice-versa), recently had more games with exclusive content. Misconception: Supports full 1080p, but not all games are in 1080p (only 30% of my own games support 1080p).

XBOX! ya, i know, the multiplayer on ps3 is free and all, but on xbox, though you have to pay, it's only $5 a month with much better connection. Also on ps3, you can't talk to more than 1 person privately. Also, it has better graphics than ps3, as well as on games such as Black Ops 2, if your planning on playing multiplayer, the map packs come out MONTHS earlier.
