when i'm hurt enough by something that i lose the ability to do anything but walk away, which means, almost never, it hasnt happened yet, and i'm hoping it never does

It depends on what I'm caring about. I broke my shoe lace.... 1 minute. My family or the people I love ..... never!!!! It's all relevant!

When I try my hardest with something/someone, and they just don't care, or after I'm let down repeatedly by the same people, and they don't even feel bad for it. Mainly just after doing something over and over. If I keep doing something, and I keep getting the same result, it gets old, and I stop caring. For the most part anyway. There's always a part of me that still cares, but if caring isn't good for me, then I try my best to suppress that.

Once I realize that "caring" isn't accomplishing anything. It's not helping anyone, it's not wanted or needed by anyone, it's wasting my energy. Then I stop caring; but I keep the capacity to care again should the time come when it is needed. It's when you lose the capacity to care that you go empty and are useless to anyone but yourself.
For those who want to lose that capacity, your life is your own and I make no judgments.

When someone is hopeless. When people are so stubborn and think they know best is when I stop caring and let karma take its course. There's no point in caring if caring only makes things worse.
