What is Christian courtship?

I've looked it up, & every website gives a vague answer as to what courtship is. How does it work? If two people spend time together with intentions for marriage, & the parents are present (as is proper in Christian courtship), how do the two actually get to know each other? Nobody acts the same way in a group or in front of their parents as they do when they are alone. How would I be able to tell if the girl was genuine? How would I even get that far? Do I just walk up to some stranger & say "I want to see if you are a suitable partner for marriage. Let's court!" I guess I don't need to know right away. I'm not anywhere close to marriage. I'm just curious.

ahahahaha, courting is simply another word for dating someone, its a relationship between two people, a BF/GF relationship, thats all really, the parents dont have to be present, you two can be alone so long as you dont do anything immoral, you talk to someone you like and ask them out, thats how you start courting

Courtship doesn't necessarily mean marriage. And, Christian courtship doesn't necessarily mean the "parents" have to be present. I think by "Christian Courtship" they mean, no physical contact.(as in the sexual sense, or leading up to it.) Appropriate actions, gestures and conversation..

Courtship is any action that tries to persuade another person to join your point of view. Usually it pertains to intended marriage, but it can pertain to anything. As when a politician "courts" the public in an attempt to get their votes either for himself or for a law that he seeks to pass. Or when an advertiser "courts" an audience in an attempt to get them to purchase a certain product/service.
