how should I ask?

I seriously think I need to be checked out by a doctor to see if I am depressed. technicly, I know I am, but I decided I want to get help, and to get meds you need to be diagnosed. how can I ask my parents to get me checked out? a little bit about me, my family isn't so great. my dad is verbally, mentally, and emotionally abusive and is the reason I first started self harming. now I just can't controll it. it's been almost a year and I'm scared....but I feel like I have no idea how to bring it up to my parents... I need help. how should I ask to get checked out for depression and anxiety?

I recommend that you sit down and have a random conversation with your mom and once she has settled down and relaxed just tell her that you need help and from there just make her see that your being serous :0

just go do it yourself or talk to your doctor at school if your still in school. this is about you not them. although once you've seeked that help. then tell your mom.

What you need is a mediator or go between since your communication is not great with your parents we can't expect it to change over night so go to your school councilor and explain he/she can be the go between you and your parents and the councilor will be your voice and on your side to get some help that there job
