Only thing that helps me when I have a horrible case of the hiccups.

All that did for me was make me bounce off the walls.

...and don't try using BROWN sugar....That burned all the way down.

Swallow 10 times without opening your mouth, you can breath through your nose, and try not to think about the hiccups

A method that works for me is to have someone eyeball me and I have to tell them when the next hiccup is coming....
It just seems to stop them stone dead.

Scientists believe if someone scares you. It'll cause esophageal contraction and you will stop hiccuping.

I usually just find the nearest tupelo tree, climb the shortest branch, dangle upside-down for a moment, get a knife, violently thrust the branch your dangling from into the knife, as the thrust begins perform a backflip, land on your knees (And/or face), and know you should forget why you are searching for a tupelo tree, which then leads to you forgetting you have the hiccups.

I always 2-3 gulps of water upside down and it works. Sometimes I eat a spoon full of sugar and that works but it also gives you a sugar rush. If that doesn't work you could have someone scare you that works too.

The only way to get rid of hiccups is by diverting your attention. You have to forget that you have them somehow. If you have them for very long periods of time, find a hypnotist

Hiccups begin when the diaphragm spasms. To stop the spasms you should try : 1) breath in through your mouth for 10 seconds. your lips should be formed as if you are going to give someone a 'peck on the cheek'. 2) without loosing any of the air, hold your breath for 10 seconds. 3) put your lips in the 'peck on the cheek' form and blow out the air taking 10 seconds to do so. This stops the spasms, it is entertaining and it works.

OK, I've battled with chronic hiccups in the past and have tried every supposed cure there is out there.

ONLY thing that works even the slightest bit for me is hard candy. You suck on the candy and when the juice/saliva is produced you have to swallow it rapidly nd repeatedly for between 30-60 seconds. (You're basically trying to block the hiccups before they have a chance to start)

you should try sitting down and taking deep breaths. in through your nose and out through your mouth
Report as
As I said I have tried EVERYTHING. Breathing tricks did not work, water did not work, Even doctor perscribed medicines did not work. The only thing that helped in the smallest amount was the candy.

Or drinking about 2-3 cups of water.

Sip some water, keep it in your mouth. Plug your nose or ears. (For me, ears work better.) Then, swallow. This pressures your head, stopping your hiccups.
