You definitely need to talk to your doctor. However, every person has a different number of times they have bowel movements. I know people who go only two to three times a week (I would DIE) and you have others (like me) who go several times a day and both are perfectly normal for each person. The blood in the stool could also be another thing. It could be an internal hemorrhoid. Especially if it's painful when you have a bowel movement, that's a big possibility. But you need to talk to your doctor as soon as possible to rule out other things that could be more dangerous. Don't worry, just do it.
Internal hemorrhoids could be to blame. Several times a day can be normal for some people, especially those who eat a lot. In colon caner, the blood will be tarry-looking. Bright red is usually a good thing, well, a better thing, anyway.
Blood on stool could indicate a number of diseases like colorectal cancer, ulcerative disease, esophageal varices or even gastric cancer. It could also be caused by Crohns disease or E. coli food poisoning. It would be good that you consult a doctor for check up and treatment.
You need to share more information. Age, gender, diet, stress level and type of stool and colour. It could as mentioned above colon cancer, colitis, or simple poor diet and hydration. Is it streaks on the stool or Hawaiian punch coloured toilet bowl water? Stool colour brown, green or black? When posting a medical question please give full details.
