6m+5-3m=7m-7 What does "m" equal?

How did you find the answer?

I know you are supposed to switch addition to sub.and sub. to addition after combine the "like terms", but are you supposed to add 7m+6m, because the 7m-7 is sub, or are you supposed to sub. 6m-7m, because the 6m+5 is addition, to get (-m or 8m depending on which way your supposed to do it)+5-3m=-7?

I hope I'm at least on the right track with this!

add the terms on each side. 3m+5=7m-7, subtract numbers to put them on the other side of the equation. 5=4m-7, 12=4m, divide. m=3
