my son had a ct scan tonight for confusion and disorientation that he's had since this morning when he woke up. I thought he was messing around with me and joking. (my boys love to joke on me) then at school he was so confused he left in the middle of a morning class? his teacher called. I picked him up. been at dr office and er all day. and evening. he has a cyst on his brain. frontal lobe? he acts like he's had a mild stroke. he's 11 years old? a cyst? anyone? please help with info?

Oh dear, I hope your son is okay. Ironically it was 40 years ago today I was hospitalized for the same sort of thing I had an abscess/cyst on my sinuses touching the base of my brain. I didn't have stroke like symptoms though. I had a severe headache, (like someone had my head in a vice.) I couldn't keep anything down, Luckily the Dr's located the cyst, and removed it. I have had very few problems after that, thank God. Today I'm 55 years old, and the only problems I have are sinus issues, vertigo here, and there. I'm sure your son is in good hands, Prayers to you and your family.

Ty Tara. I know you must be at your wits end right now. I'm praying for Wyatt right now. Please try, and stay calm. Wyatt doesn't need to feel your tension right now. Listen to the Dr's, as I'm sure you will. Please keep us informed on Wyatt's progress. He's young, and he's got that going for him. God Bless you too. I'm going to follow you know, and that way I can see what you've posted ok. Take care.

It all depends on many things... Has he shown similar symptoms before? Has he ever damaged his head in any way? All the same, you shouldn't worry. Cysts can be healed easily, especially at his young, adaptable age.

A cyst, especially on the frontal lobe, would normally be causing some pain. If he isn't complaining about head aches, I would do exactly what you are doing. If he is complaining about headaches, surgery is probably going to be needed. :(

I had a buddy that was in his late twenties. We were in Vegas for a weekend. He kept saying that he had bad headaches all weekend. After he got home he went to the doctor. He ended up having a tumor growing on his brain. He had surgery and was a little off for a couple years. He's fine now.

I know its different, just wanted to let you know he recovered. His wife left him, and he's on permanent disability, but he's alive and doing good. In fact, I'm going to see what he's doing this weekend.

My dad had that, his personality changed drastically, he became paranoid, was seeing things and talking to people we couldn't see. Turned out he had cysts in his brain, doctor said it looked like he'd had them a long time as how they were formed around his brain, they never did any surgery, treated him with medications and he's fine now, a little slow but is that old age or related to the cysts.

relax.... breathe ..... wait till the Dr. lets you know what they plan to do about it. Then do your research on the problem and the Hospital (make sure they know what they are doing ). But right now just BREATHE! !
