What is the chief end of mankind?

Any reformers out here?

We sleep until judgment day at which time it will be decided if we live in paradise with God or we are thrown into the lake of fire to be consumed body and soul never more to be remembered.

To fit into life on this planet and the rest of the universe as if we belong here but do not rule here. To take what we need and no more; to do as little damage as possible as we go through our lives.

Why can't mankind achieve any of that?.
Report as
We can. But first we must realize that we are not the TOP of creation, only part of it. While we believe that we are the best of all possible life forms, we tend to take advantage of other life forms beyond what we need. It is one thing to eat meat; it is another to kill off the last of a species so we can feast rather than dine.

Humanity is full of pride. This will prevent the truth from happening. What shall we do?
Report as
We need to get over it. The very fact that we now pay attention to whether species are endangered is a good sign. It wasn't that long ago, when Rachel Carson wrote Silent Spring and everybody laughed at her, that nobody cared about animals going extinct. No species, including humanity, changes all at once, but we ARE changing, and for the better. It looks bad, because we now NOTICE the things that are wrong instead of ignoring them.

Humanity has lost its way. We are driven by hate. We hate ourselves, our neighbor. I feel bad for all the animals who have us as their keepers. Who will save us from our bodies of death?

Okay, you are too depressed and pessimistic to listen. You have already decided the answer to your question, so why ask it?
Report as
That is a true statement. I do already know the answer to my question. I was searching for a person who recognized the question. It is from reformed theology. But you must know, it is only pessimistic because there is no faith to be put in man. Watch the news, look around you, this also is a true statement. But what we fix our eyes upon is the Blessed Hope for humanity. With this the most depressed will be filled with joy.

Okay, I'll wait for Big Daddy God to come and rescue us, because we certainly wouldn't want to grow up and take care of ourselves.

See, I didn't insult you. I disagreed with you. How does a person feel okay with mocking someone else's view. There's that pride again. You are the problem to your own solution. And its best if you keep your insults as doubts, because we both know you are unsure about this life.

Sorry. Shouldn't have gotten that severe about it. You seem to have totally given up on the human race, and totally giving up is something I don't react well to. You have every right to feel as you do, and the fact that I feel you are wrong doesn't detract from that right. I hope you come to a less "dark" view of things.
Report as
I really appreciate what you say to me. You obviously are different than most. My views appear dark but only this way to those who do not have faith. I am not talking faith in man but in the one who redeems man. This idea is stupid to you, I know. Just as you do not understand me, I do not understand you. I do not see what you see in humanity. The change you see is not the change I see. One of us is wrong. Do you believe in truth? What is truth?

As man lives , so a man dies.
As a man dies , so shall he be
