Because they are foolish and greedy. They want things they have no right to, and they think that beings who (IF they exist; I don't insist either way) are described as devious and deceptive. Why, no matter what you want, make a bargain with creatures known to break their promises?

Free will and choice it's a matter of choice because they choose to do so.

My husband made a deal with the devil (b4 we were married) to win $5000 in a sporting quiz on tv about 20 yrs ago. Guess what ? He won the cash, bought a motor bike & had a severe crash, broke his spine & punctured his lungs. He died at the scene (drowned in his own blood). The paramedics revived him. (thanks to their expertise & God). He lives with regret & pain every day.
The devil gives but takes even more.

wow! So, he told the devil he would make a deal with him if he let him win?
Report as
Why would he choose to make a deal with the devil when he could have made one with God--especially being married to you? So the facts of the case are that he entered a contest and he was the one that won a cash prize (instead of someone else). He then bought a motorcycle which he drove and subsequently had a serious accident. He *almost* drowned in his own blood (had he actually drowned he would have been dead), but the paramedics saved him. All very coincidental.
Report as
You husband should've asked for at least $5,000,000.
Report as
Wow! These things never happen! 1. Contest winner 2. Motorcycle accident 3. Paramedics saving lives. Oh wait.....?
Report as
I'm just telling the facts. He seriously told the devil he'd trade his soul for the contest. Coincidence ? maybe so. That's what happened & to me it was relevant to the Q.
Report as
Lolo, yes
Report as
Cal, we weren't together. I've known him since I was 14, we grew up in the same neighbourhood. He was in a different place in his life then.

Interpreter, for sure, at the very least.

ShayJay, when he died, did he experience anything?
Report as
no, the next he knew he was in hospital, in ICU.

No one 'sells' their soul. Thats totally Hollywood. Some people embrace satan and its evil more than others. They open themselves completely to satan and its 'demons' and that influence.

Well, I read a book called "Ascention from the Darkness." A man who became a satanist because he was mad at God. Was one for over 20 years. You kind of do sell yourself.
Report as
you open your soul its the same thing as selling it. Its like a free 100 dollar bill on the street.

I would imagine that people sell imaginary things to imaginary beings because they aren't too bright.

Because you can win it back 10 fold if you play the game right. I had an extra one so it wasn't a big deal for me.

@Truth, it is so convenient for you to have had two souls. That way you can play the odds and sell off the bothersome one. I have soul-envy now and I'm not coping very well with it. I didn't have soul-envy until I read your answer. You could have advertised for a clean sale to somebody whose soul has not made itself known yet. I would have given you $19.99 for it, no tax.

I sold mine to the devil. Poor thing had to run around day and night just to maintain me. So he pawned me. You can get for $9.99 tax free.

SometimeS, as Robbie Burns would have said if he'd seen this question, "The worst-laid plans of mice and men gang aft agley."

What I mean is that sometimes people who want to sell their souls stuff it up. Like the dyslexic devil worshipper who sold his soul to SANTA.

its really complicated people do it to save lives, have food and shelter helping family some use it selfishly. Its bad to sell your soul. If you do your body is clear to be taken over by a demon. or worse the devil. To my thoughts don't do it. You watch to much paranormal activity!
