Sure, eat what you kill type hunting. Hunting regulations and money from hunting licenses go to game management which helps to stabilize the population of game animals and pays for the enforcement of game laws.
I went to Wisconsin over winter break and we stopped by my great uncle's house. he and his wife had just gotten back from hunting and they had a dead deer hanging in their garage dripping blood and their dog, chumley was going to lick it, but then I freaked out and pulled him away. It was honestly the grossest thing I had ever seen. My dad wanted to stay and skin it, but i almost threw up. Then he was teasing me like, "it comes off easy when it;s still warm," and other stuff. Hunting is an abuse of animal rights.
For food and survival? Yes. So someone that wants to fool themselves into believing they're tough by hanging a head on a wall of a prey animal they killed at 300 yards with a 306? No. If you use all (or at least most) of the animal, then by all means go ahead. But if you need to prove your a "bad-@ss" then hunt a Boar or Bear with a spear and I'll be impressed.
I believe in population management. But hunting for sport is disgusting and wasteful. Also, I've always thought people who hang the taxidermy skin and carcass of an animal in their house are, well... that's kind of messed up if you take the time to think about it.
IMO, in the case of deer for example, Its better a deer die in a field or forest as opposed to going through the windshield of a family driving 60 mph.
