I really want a dog!

I really want a dog! What are some ways i can tell my parents I'm ready and what are some ways i can help out? Thank you!

You can tell your parents that you want a dog by having a friendly conversation with both of them on a happy day. Give confident answers as to why you want a dog as well as how responsible you will be. Initially, you can help with household work and be obedient for them to listen to you.

Well, you must prove you're responsable enough to care for one. Maybe do extra work around the house.

Volunteer at your local pound or work for free at a boarding kennel. Is there a grooming shop near you? After school, stop by, make friends and maybe you could walk dogs for them. You will learn about dogs, get to be around dogs, and it will show your parents that you're serious.

First think of how big of a dog you want and if you have the space for such a dog! Large breed dogs are not suited for city life IMHO...they need space to run and exercise, and a small yard isn't going to cut it....so if you are looking for a large dog, then you will need to take it to the park every day to let it get some exercise if you live in a city. You also have to consider how much the food will cost and how big your dog is...that is an extra mouth to feed, you might want to offer to get a job to pay for the food. If you take vacations, can you take the dog with you, or will it have to be boarded so it can be taken care of when you are gone...extra expense. The issue with small dogs is many breeds are simply annoying little yippie dogs..they bark too much. If the dog sheds and they are an inside dog, you will have constant hair that needs to be cleaned up, consider anyone in the household that may have allergies. When you talk to Mom and Dad, you have to consider all these things...a pet is a large responsibility, needing lots of attention...
