How do you play multiplayer on minecraft pe?

My friend has minecraft and I see people play together and I want to play it with my freind.

so pocket edition, on like an ipod or something, you will have to be connected to the same wifi or it will not work, once you are, (of course you have to have minecraft) you can go to wifi games and his username will be there

he starts a map, then you tap the wifi games thing and tap his username

I have kindle fire version and he has ipad version.

when you downloaded it, it should tell you, this would be easier if you had the ipad, i cant tell you anymore

well I think there's just no version because it cost $7.99 and on the title screen it doesn't say upgrade.

theres two versions to download, on itunes at least

I think it's just because I have a kindle fire and he has an I pad.

to start a server just play on a map with the same WiFi as your partner other friend can play with iPod or iPhone and still work but u both have to have the full version
