My son said walnuts I put in chicken salad made his tongue itchy. Should I be concerned about this & take him to the emergency room?

I wouldn't worry too much unless his symptoms get worse, watch for any labored breathing, hives, (swollen red spots on the skin) or rashes if any of this happens get him to the ER. A lot of people have very mild allergies to tree nuts which can cause itching feeling of the tongue or mouth but he will need to be VERY careful with any sort of nut from here on out as allergies can get worse. My advice is to watch him and get him to his doctor when you can get an appt to have him tested for allergies.

if his tongue is just itchy, then leave it be for now, if his symptoms worsen, then take him to the ER though, but you should schedule a DR's appointment for him and have him allergy tested

Give him benadryl and watch him. If mouth/lip swelling call 911. Otherwise call the doctor in the morning. Sounds like the start of a nut allergy. Does he have asthma?

He used to have asthma when he was younger, but he grew of it. I used to have asthma and I grew out of it also.

Asthma is a symptom of allergies. Bottom line keep benadry or its generic diphenhydramine around.
