What steps can I take towards getting a very healthy immune system?

I want to have the ability to fight off common viruses before they worsen.

Take turmeric in capsules, oregano oil in sofgels, cod liver oil sofgels, use Young Living Thieves oil on the soles of your feet when you go to bed at night. Don't drink anything diet or anything that comes out of a box--except pasta--and stay away from restaurants. Don't eat anything with a word on the label that you cannot pronounce. Don't buy any of these supplements off a shelf even in a health food store. Mass produced health products are rarely effective. Fruits and vegetables must be eaten quickly because sitting in your fridge after they have been on a truck from Florida, Mexico or California have lost a lot of nutrients.

Get plenty of exercise and fresh air. Bathe and have a healthy diet with lots of fruits and vegetables. Don't stay inside all the time let your body fight off weaker strains, your immune system will remember how to fight it.

Go play outside, although some say dirt makes u sick it actually strengthens the immune system and helps you from getting sick because it backs off antibodies

Vitamin D3 and lots of it. The FDA guidelines are way too low.
Also when you first feel something coming on take Colloidal Silver. This is by far the best antibiotic for viruses. It only attacks invading bacteria not the good bacteria you need, yes there are good bacteria.

Building up a strong immune system is about making a few lifestyle changes. Drink lots of water (for females it's an average of 2.7 liters a day, and for males higher) and eat lots of fruit and vegetables. A good-quality multivitamin tablet can help too. Avoid processed foods, sugar, and synthetic sweeteners. Honey is a good substitute for sweetening. It's fine to eat meat because this gives you protein. Don't drink milk; it actually takes calcium from your body and promotes the production of mucus. Try not to eat processed grains, either, and vary the grains you eat: for instance, don't always eat white wheat bread; try rye, barley, or rice. Don't use antibiotics unless you have to; eating raw garlic is great for fighting off viruses. Most importantly, think positive! =)
