Would you rather be told a truthful answer and not like what you hear or be told a complete lie and like what you hear?

I am asking this to find out why people on ask seem to tell people that are truthful are liars. I have had quite a few of this example happening to me.

Some ppl don't like me...because I'm going to tell you the truth as I see it....I'm old and you know most old people tell you like it is...point tell me the truth...and I must choose how to deal with it. Most say the truth..but hearing it will make most cuss you...I don't care I'm going to tell you the truth deal with it... and others will say you are rude for not lying to them....deal with it..

Truthful and not like what I'm hearing...political figures do the opposite and it doesn't seem to be working, except for the uneducated mor ons that still vote.

Helix, the only way things in politics will ever change, is if ALL participate, and that means VOTING! If you're not supporting the process, you can't complain at the outcome, it takes the concerted efforts of MILLIONS to affect real change, and in those millions, there's room for your input also! ;)

"a complete lie" may not only be pleasant to hear, it may save. truth is bitter and works well for those egoists that care only for their honest name. i can not tell you what i would like to hear but i would definitely it if my interlocutor thought well before uttering a word.

It depends on the person giving the answer. I expect complete honesty from someone I know well but will usually prefer a little sugar coating from a stranger.

I get the impression that some people are "asking" "questions" just for the sake of trying to make themselves look good. Like, there is a hidden agenda behind posting it, and they don't genuinely need help. And when you bring a perspective into it they they didn't want to hear, or didn't want anyone else to realize, they are closed minded to it. Being close minded to answers, purely to me, is a sign that they didn't actually intend to seek help, but either- spill their guts about their misgivings, or show off something (eg. how skinny they are blah blah, and hide it behind an "i'm concerned" question). These sorts of people are really trying my patience, and it just feels like a huge effort, trying to sift through people who are genuinely seeking advice.
I suppose I'm just a little peeved, only because I haven't had a serious question for a while. Lately, they have all been a waste of time.
Except this one, finally.

One only grows from learning from their mistakes. If you aren't made aware of what they are or if there's a problem, you can't benefit. Granted....there are good ways and bad ways of telling the truth.

I don't want to hear people's opinions under the guise of "truth".
