not just for young arabs. For anybody born outside of an european country. I am part basque and getting citizenship in spain is very hard for me. I have to prove that my grandpa was basque, which when my grandpa fled Spain it was during the time where Spain was giving a hard time to the basque people. He fled because his two sisters got shot and left for dead and the police were accusing him, among prohibiting him to speak basque. He didn't want to have anything to do with Spain when he migrated to the Americas so he made it very difficult to track him. I could use his birth certificate, but I also need a family member in spain that will assure the Spanish government that I am not going to ask for assistance or anything like that from Spain for at least a year. I have family members over there, but they don't want to go through all the paper work. I can't blame them. Is a lot of work. I think it only got harder because the economy is so bad too.
Because European countries are usually just one nationality. Swedes are Swedish, France has the French, Germany has Germans etc. They are not like our young country, America, where we come from other countries (unless you are native Indian). That is also why some forms of Socialism work there because they all come from one race of people with shared values and traditions unlike America where we are a melting pot of values and traditions. What one group likes, another may feel it goes against their values and such.
