I feel like that all the time! Listen to your favorite music, watch a movie, or hang with some friends or chat to them. That always makes me feel better.

force yourself to listen to uplifting music while taking a 20 minute jog-works really really well especially if you have chronic depression, also look up comedy gigs on you tube! Also try to socialize at any occasion you can get the longer you are alone doing nothing the worse it gets. Its good that you are trying to be proactive about it though :) i commend you!

You should just imagine your self and your dream house, and all your kids.. Imagine you having a happy, wonderful life.. Then, watch your imagination come true.

Keep yourself busy. Feel down, do something you enjoy even if you don't feel like it. Once out of the rut, you feel better. :D

Cardiovascular exercise (walking, running, swimming or cycling) and sunlight exposure are effective and natural ways to alleviate some symptoms of mild depression. However, if your depression is moderate or severe you may need medication from your doctor. Antidepressant medications are well tolerated and not addictive (and they really work). Although it may take 2-4 weeks before you feel their effects.

Get outside for awhile each day for at least 20 to 30 minutes to get some sunlight. Take a walk get some kind of exercise. Things that help me; talk with a friend or family member. Eat your favorite food(s), ice cream, hot cocoa etc. Fish, if you like it is known to help with depression. Hobbies, I've made friends through hobbies like country line dancing. So if you have a hobby that gets you out of the house, even better. You may meet people there and when you're busy it is harder to think about being depressed. Read uplifting, positive thinking books and audio recordings, magazines, my favorite is Woman's World magazine! Someone mentioned a funny tv program. Music as the others mentioned too. Pets give unconditional love if you are lucky enough to be able to have one. And remember, you aren't alone many people feel sad at times. You may need to see a doctor if your depression is very bad.

i have had my share of bad days and times when i don't even want to get out of bed. i agree with a lot of these brave comments when it comes to music. Music is heaven. it can lift you up and out of a funk in minutes sometimes. i also find going to the movies so much fun. whether you are with friends or family , i highly recommend it. movies are such a nice break from reality which is so scary sometimes and movies let you lose yourself in a story. stories that can make you laugh ,feel inspired or a little braver when you go back home to face the music. just know that you are never alone, there are angels everywhere looking out for you.

I also commend all these people coming to your aid. However, I feel most of their suggestions, while they might work in the short-term, are avoidance. They are treating the symptoms and not the cause. I think you need to look really hard at what is bothering you and what you can do about it. Remember that we can often be masters of avoidance and denial, but try to find out what it is and then put in place plans to address it. It might be something simple to address or it might take a long time. If if is the latter, it seems to me that there is hope as long as you have a plan of action and you are implementing that plan. I find that I am a procrastination. I just hope whatever it is will go away....it usually doesn't and I just get depressed that it is there and I am not dealing with it.
