You can try something different, something that they never heard before and that'll blow them away. Have you tried looking up Luca Turilli? He's a great song writer. "The Ancient forest of Elves" is a very good song, but if you're looking for something a bit more interesting, there is a band he helps compose for called Luca Turilli's Dreamquest (female singer). Look up the song 'Kyoto's Romance' or 'Virus' by them and you will be hooked.
Well, I'm a soprano, but if you want to really stand out at an audition, pick an older, well known song. The last time I auditioned, literally everyone picked a current song. I chose a Frank Sinatra song and went up an octave to better suit my voice. Try the song The Way You Look Tonight. It's nice and swingy, and is a really powerful song. Good Luck!
Two ideas: "The Wind Beneath My Wings" and the song Dan Hill made popular long ago, "Sometimes When We Touch." You might need to change a word or two as a female "narrator" but I think that song's been waiting for a woman's voice. Good luck!
it depends on what kind of audition if it were a talent show or something along those lines i would sing my fav. song(everyone talks by neon trees) but you don have to do that specific song just do what you want to do.
Did you see Susan Boyle on Britain's got talent audition? She blew them away with "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Mis. Not an easy song though, so only use it if you can nail.it. Les Mis is in the theater right now, there are several great songs.
It all depends on what the audition is for. Is it for a school musical, a talent show, american idol...? And if it's a school show, it helps to pick a song not from that show but from something in the same time period or style. My theatre class is the first non-broadway cast to perform the revival edition of Godspell, the music from that is awesome!
Always something simple, a song that you feel at ease with. And as stonergal69 pointed out, you need to be able to hit the notes. Do not pick a song that to begin with needs a lot of skill, but rather pick one that needs a very small amount of skill and use your voice to heighten the experience. So that even if you picked "Mary had a little lamb" you should be able to blow them away. But if it was my pick I would take something soft like Yasmeen -"When will it be me".
But it also depend on what you are auditioning for? If you need something upbeat maybe?
someone like you - adele THIS GIRL IS ON FIRE ! - alicia key <3 love that song lol fireflies-owl city if i die young- the band perry rolling in the deep- adele skyscarper-demi bed of roses- the band perry hope theese help !!!! GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a really a personal choice. Firstly, you must consider your vocal range, what you're capable of. Also, what kind of music you like singing and what brings out the emotion in you. It is different for everybody, mate.
