What would you do?

Pastor at a church comes up with a plan to see his youth group's reaction by asking one of the people at church who's on the SWAT team to break into the church one day with his team. That day he was talking to his youth group when the SWAT team came through the doors and windows and put handcuffs on the pastor and knelt him down. The guy who was part of the church asked if anyone in the youth group was Christian. Nobody said a word. He took off his mask and they all started saying yes we are. what would you say or do?

I think that was an absurd way to force kids to pledge their allegiance to a god.
I'd also report the Swat Team to their higher ups.

Yes, that's not exactly a worthy use of their time and resources...

this story is told many ways it was just the story i heard. it mightve just been a bunch of church members dressed up like SWAT and it was to see if they would say anything even if they didnt know what would happen after. its called standing up for what you believe in

It's a horrible thing to do to young members of a youth group. Shame on them!!

@TheHarem ok believe what you want. it was a cause and effect situation!

of course they freaked out. 99.9% of people would freak out if a SWAT team showed up and asked if they were Christians. the point was to see how brave they would be when the guy asked his question. it was to see if they would stan up for God and their beliefs

Cupcakes, you stated in your "what if" scenario, that the man who took off his mask WAS a member of SWAT.
Your question was also a, "what would you do", scenario.
So why, are you getting so upset when people are answering your question, as asked?
If you wanted everyone to say, wow, great idea. You should have worded your question, much differently.
I still see it as an absurd way to get children to stand up for their beliefs. Actually, it turned into an Epic Failure as no one would admit to being Christians until after the farce was shown for what it was.

If I was Christian, I would say so. I'm not, and I'm willing to say that if called on. It's called standing up for what you believe.

Uhhh unless your talking about high school students, most kids don't understand that. Beside all you would have to say is "1st amendment!"

I would teach them that if they deny Jesus in front of others, he will deny them in front of his father.

I think that is a misuse of authoritative power and I would be reporting it. I understand he was trying to make a point, like what happened in Columbine, when the girl would not say she wasn't a christian and the guy shot her in the head, but that is a very poor way to get his point across.

I think it was probably frightening to the group. It did however, price a point. You never know if that actually could be the US one day.

I dont think it was a good thing to do. I bet some were scared to death. You can teach to stand up for God without being scared to death. There are videos and great speakers that could come to teach. I am a strong christian : BUT I feel that was over kill. As a parent ... I would be angry.

i wasnt asking for a whole story on why it wasnt good to do. i was just asking what YOU would do if you were put in that kind of situation!
Report as
Yeah..and especially kids whom are not fully emotionally mature. Not a good thing to do.
I have heard of a story like that years ago, where someone came in with a gun. They sent away those who would not say they believe in God. Then, whoever was left, they took of thier masks and said, "Now let us those that TRULY love God, worship Him." I never knew if it was a true story or not. But, this day and age with so many killings, it's just not funny.
Report as
LILO, couldn't agree more! That's why so many people turn away from Christianity, the zealots are going way overboard.

I would say " Yes I am a Christian ".

Mark 8:38

38 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.?

Romans 1:16

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.

Matthew 10:32-33

32 ?Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. 33 But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.

Mark 8:35

35 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel?s will save it.

this is the kind of answer i was looking for. everyone else said why its bad to do it not what they would do

Okay cupcakes, you want to know what I would of done, I'll tell you. I would have pelted whoever was handcuffing the pastor with bibles, I would of taken a run at him to knock him off the pastor and then when it was shown to be a farce, I would of walked out of the door and never returned.
And we wonder where Bullying comes from. Church sanctioned actions as you've described them.

no thats just how your taking it :P like i said before to you or someone else: it was a what would you do scenario not why this story isnt right in the first place. the point was to show how sad it was that no one stood up for what they believed in. i was asking what would you have done like would you have said yes i am a christian or just stand there like a statue... but whatever >:(
