How can I get water out of my ear?

Report as

They sell drops for "swimmers ear". I wouldn't put anything else in the ear though. The drops are sold around the same place as visine, and eye drops. The "swimmers ear drops" dry up excess water/moisture and work great.

Stamp your foot on the side that is bothering you.
Sounds crazy, but it works. Jump up and down if you have to, but the stamping works if you do it right.

cotton swab

Absolutely do NOT use a swab. They can push the earwax deeper inside and cause hearing problems or perforate the tympani (eardrum).

Im sure you have NOT tried this one.... i know this sounds wierd but it works just add WATER. Fill your ear with more water and when you drain your ear the water that is stuck will come out with the water you just added

Put a few drops of water in your other ear, tilt your head so that the ear where you just put water in looks up and slowly turn your head back until your other ear looks up.. should work.

Use a mixture of 1 part rubbing alcohol and 2 parts water. Use a dropper is you have one and put some of the mixture in your ear. You will know when it tilt your head and let it out after you "hear/feel" the mixture meet with the water stuck in your ear. It doesn't hurt and you probably have rubbing alcohol
in your medicine cabinet.

sleep on your side or just tilt your head til it comes out and NEVER use a Q-tip because you can bust your ear drum or shove more water in your ear ! :)

Tilt your head to the side that the water is on, and then jump and put most of your weight on that side's foot. Do that multiple times if it doesn't work the first time. Works 90% of the time for me.

Ok. My husband thinks this remedy is crazy, but it works for me! When I was a kid my parents were fanatical about not using Q-tips to get water out of my ears. It can puncture the eardrum.
So, my dad told me to get one Kleenex, open it up (so it is 2-ply not 4), and roll one corner into a point then put it into my ear to absorb the water. Sometimes I pinch of the tippy top off of the tissue because feels like it is super-sensitive inside my ear. Also, it should look similar to a wet towel twisted up to swat at your little brother! :0
Because you are using tissue, when you push it into your ear, it will bend if it hits anything. Safe? I've been doing it for nearly 40 years, and the only thing that happened was the water left my ear on the tissue. Also, it sometimes it feels like an itchy nose getting scratched after a few minutes of not being able to scratch the itch!

Now here's what ya do! tilt your head towards the ear that has water in it. then get your hand. then hit the side of your head on the ear that doesn't have water in it. :D now if that doesn't work try these other answer's and if none of em work jump in a volcano and the water should evaporate if not all of the liquid in your body.. oh and everything else.. should go away. NO PROBLEMS EVERRR AGAIN :D

I am a registered nurse. Please DO NOT PUT ANYTHING IN YOUR EAR. Easiest, safest way is to lay down on your pillow on the side where the water is and it will come out on its own. Hope this helps.
