I would try running even more often. If you go running every other day or whenever you have time you will build up your stamina so the mile will be easy for you.

Don't go too fast, but don't go to slow. While running, try not to make your pace any faster or slower, try to stay at the same pace the entire time. Don't talk-it makes you lose breath quicker.& Try not to be so hard on yourself throughout the day.

Find your pace, not too fast, not too slow, lol, and don't worry about who's behind or in front of you, just worry about you and keep going :)

Run a couple of miles each day, work your way up in distance and you'll your body will get used to the miles, I guarantee if you run everyday you'll get faster and wont get lost.

Breathing right is the key. Try to breath in on one foot and out on that same foot, or if that's not enough then breath in on one (left) and out on the next (right). Also, don't try to be in first when you start running. Pace yourself, find an easy yet steady pace and then you'll have energy at the finish. Finally, if you cross the line then that's a reason to be proud regardless of where you place since you never gave up.

Ha ha sounds alot like me in high school! What the others said is a good thing but also try carbing up on the day before and the day of every week, also don't forget to stretch before and after or you'll get sore.

Breathe trough your nose, look up don't look down, set goals like for example lets say if your running and up a head is a tree say okay once I get to the tree I stop jogging and start running till another objective and also don't start of running at full speed start walking fast then jogging the running goodluck

When I run the mile I usually just jog all five laps and I come in like 3rd or 4th out of the class. The first girl done. I occasionally walk for a minute or two then keep jogging. I never run until the very end when I'm rite by the finish line just to get a better time. A tip is to try to keep up and stay rite behind someone who you know always finishes faster then you. Oh and when you start the mile dont automatically start running, simply pace your self at a steady jog. If you run, you'll eventually get tired and stop and walk for a while and that's how you get passed up. Also try controlling your breathing. In through nose, out through mouth. It helps you not get tired as quickly. (I'm in track just incase your wondering)
