How to update IOS on 2nd generation iPod touch

I had to restore my super old iPod touch recently, and since then i can't update the IOS. It's at 4.2.1 right now. When I check for updates on iTunes it says IOS is up to date, but every app needs at least 4.3...any idea what's going on? My sister has a 4th generation, and uses the same iTunes account, but her IOS is 6.0.1

It really depends what generation your iPod touch is I have a 4th generation iPod and my ISO is 6.0.1. Plus, when you plug your iPod into the iTunes on the computer it will tell you if you need an update or not. Hope this helps :)

iPod touch 2nd generations software will only allow it to update to 4.2.1 it can't go any higher sorry to say. Your sisters software and hardware are more up to date. So she is able to go to iOS 6
