How can I kick my sugar habit?

I've been trying to give up sugar for my New Year's resolution, but I just can't seem to stop buying candy and soda. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to reduce sugar cravings?

Get yourself a chewing gun everytime you experience sugar cravings. Try to preoccupy yourself with some activity so as not to think about snacks. Eat more fish and meat that will keep you full for longer periods of time. Drink something at the end of every meal (water, tea, coffee)

I use honey or agave nectar instead of sugar, like in coffee and such. Really though it's a bit of an addiction, not as bad as cigarettes but it will still take willpower to overcome.

It is a mind over matter issue. Have some self control.

You can use splenda sweetener. Try to do brisk walking 1 hr morning and 1 hr evening daily. It burns your extra sugar. Self control and will power is a must.

There are many natural sweeteners out there! Xylitol, Stevia, and lucuma are a few. Cutting out SODA would be a big start though. That was my problem for a long time. I went to diet soda, then seltzer.
