Do 2 strokes constantly break down?

I have a 1998 kx 250 and every time someone talks about them, they just slander them and say they need rebuilt all the time. like 2ce a year? is this true? and my bike isn't Mx or anything, I ride on a farm doing just little jumps and wheelies

2 stroke engines do destroy them selves faster then a 4 stroke engine. They are bound to being the run at much higher RPM's and require oil to be properly mixed with the fuel. That being said if you maintain it well and mix the fuel properly it will last longer then the people are telling you

by the time people buy and sell these starter bikes they have usually been WAILED on. Beat into the ground and left for dead. EVERYONE says: I barely rode it..............

Noo! I mean I'm going to rebuild the engine. I mean how often do they blow up? Just farm riding

it will last you until you want to sell it to the next rider.

I had 2 stroke bikes until I got too old to ride. They don't require rebuilding unless you race often. My worst problem was fouling plugs if fuel isn't mixed right or if high rpm's aren't maintained. Lots of idling or "putting around" will foul plugs.
