Mormons, what do you think of Lutherans?

'm just curious, because i attend a lutheran church. a few years back i became a huge fan of david archuleta, who is mormon. everyone in my church freaked out. and says i'm terrible for it. luckily, my parents aren't like that. i have a relative who hates mormons and tries to tell me how awful they are, but i know in my heart they are great christian people, as is my family. recently, this family member sent us a letter and in it she talked about mormons are sometimes in their nursing home and her husband ACTUALLY TELLS THESE YOUNG MEN TO GET LOST! i was livid when i read this. they always claim to be perfect christians. she is a deaconess and her husband is a lutheran pastor. i mean wait, they're claiming to be christian but they're judging when the bible says not to judge. i'm curious, do mormons talk this bad about lutherans and other religions? please don't put me down or anything. i love mormons and i love my savior.

I am a Mormon and we don't talk bad about any other religion or people. We are not a cult. We are Christians as we follow Christ and His teachings. We have gotten a bad rap from people because they don't know us or are bitter x members. If you have any questions, look up lds.org. Or I will be glad to answer any question. God bless you for not being judgemental.

I feel ya. I'm not Mormon or Lutheran, but it's very annoying when people of different denominations get so uppity about each other. I mean, we all believe in the same thing, it's just that our actual practices are a little different. Have a good day!

Mormons are NOT Christians. They do not believe the same things. You have confused denomination with religion. Anyway it's a good idea not to be uppity.

Mormons are not Christians. They are a cult started by Smith. Look up the historical facts and you will find the truth.

There is no such thing as a "perfect Christian"

The Bible says, "For all have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God"

Everyone sins and fails. However, Christians trust in God and are saved not by works but by faith. However, this is not a free ticket. Just becoming a Christian after you kill someone does not mean that you do not go to jail.

There are consequences for your actions. However, when you believe in Jesus Christ, you are assured of your salvation.

Overall, I think your other relatives or family seem to have overreacted. I do not know the situation but telling people to get lost just because of their faith would not be fair and this goes both ways.

Mormons are individuals and so are Lutherans and so both will have varied thoughts of each other.

Anyway some "Mormons" and some "Christians" are "extremists."

It all comes down to personal beliefs and experiences with other groups.

Yet Mormons are not Christians.

Anyways the Bible says not to judge, LEST YOU BE JUDGED. It is in context. You can judge others but be aware that others will judge you in the same way. You don't have to be a doormat pansy Christian who just agrees with everyone.

Anyway, hope this helps!

"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will ender the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven." Matthew 7:21

There's a lot more, about the fruits you bear and such, but basically I took that as Christians are saved by works AND faith. The chapter also begins with the quote you already mentioned: "Judge not, that you not be judged"; and verse 12 is the "do to others what you would want others to do to you" rule.

You are seriously misinformed about Mormons. Instead of believing the lies told about us by other people why don't you try learning the truth. Go to www.Mormon.org and find out what we really believe.

Starkiller, what I read in your answer, I feel is the most bigoted answer thus far. Mormons are christian, as much as baptist, Lutherans, and Catholics. Each has a different belief, they draw from a made up book. Who are you to judge mormons that they are not christian? Shouldn't that be up to your made up christian god to decide? I bet you still think that blacks are the cursed race too, passed down through Noah's son Ham.

Yes there is some similarities but there are differences between denomination and religion. Mormonism is a separate religion while being Lutheran is being part of a Christian denomination!

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints I can assure you we have no bad feelings to Lutherans, or any other denomination or religion. We are all God's children and He loves us all equally.
I'm sorry you're around people who are filled with anger and hatred toward us. It's quite common as you can see by the misinformed answers you've already got from some confused people.
If you want to know what we really believe, go to www.Mormon.org and check it out. There are also people there 24/7 who can answer your questions in chat mode. Good luck.

Well I'm Lutheran and my best friend is Mormon and we both live in SC and he says that Lutherans are the only other Christians to accept him and other Mormons. Of course we do have the fact that the baptists down here seem to not like either of our denominations in common.

You need to seek the Holy Spirit for your amswer and not the opinion of man. Read the Word Of God and see what it has to say about other religions.
Ephesians 4:11-16

11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; 14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, 15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ— 16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.

2 John 1:10-11

10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him; 11 for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds.
